Rhinoplasty FAQ

One of the most sought-after facial plastic surgeries, rhinoplasty is performed to enhance the appearance, structure, and function of the nose. At Pacific Med Health Group, our surgeons know that there is no universal type of rhinoplasty that will meet the needs of every patient. For this reason, we carefully customize this procedure for each patient, depending on his or her needs. Aside from correcting the shape of your nose or creating a more proportionate profile, this procedure can also treat nasal injuries, address birth defends, and even help relieve some breathing problems.

WHAT IS A RHINOPLASTY?

A rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure often referred to as a “nose job” or “nose reshaping.” It is performed to correct cosmetic or functional problems with the nose – or both. Of all facial surgeries, rhinoplasty is one of the most complex. The interior structure of the nose must be corrected, and may include resculpting the bone, cartilage, or both, removing excess, reshaping the nose bridge to remove a hump, narrowing or building up the nose bridge, correcting a droopy or bulbous tip, or improving the appearance of large or overlong nostrils to create a more pleasing facial appearance. It’s not uncommon to see people in Beverly Hills, walking around with bandages on their nose from their rhinoplasty appointment.

WHAT SETS MY MED SPA LA APART FROM OTHER FACIAL PLASTIC SURGEONS?

It is critical that your surgeon has high-level skills and deep experience in rhinoplasty. The procedure must be customized in every case – there is no one-size-fits-all nose! The skill with which your surgery is performed is extremely important. Our top surgeon, Dr. Michael Omidi, is one of the few plastic surgeons that has had advanced training in facial and nose contouring surgery and performs many complex and revision nose, eyelid and face surgeries. Dr. Omidi has built a reputation for delivering consistently excellent results through combining safe surgical and non-surgical modalities such as lasers and radiofrequency procedures that promote quick recovery.

Nose reshaping surgery must be carefully planned and executed so the result is balanced with your other features and enhances your other features. This is where Dr. Omidi excels and what has led to his reputation as the top rhinoplasty surgeon in Beverly Hills and Pomona.

WHAT TO EXPECT DURING THE PROCEDURE?

Rhinoplasty requires only one surgical procedure lasting from two to three hours with the results proven to bring you satisfaction for the rest of your life. That being said, the duration of your procedure will depend on whether you choose to elect open or closed rhinoplasty. While closed rhinoplasty involves incisions made inside the nose only, the open approach calls for an incision under the nasal tip, between the nostrils, and lifting the skin to operate on the underlying nasal structure. Most of the time, ethnic rhinoplasty will be performed as an open procedure, which guarantees a greater precision and control of the underlying nasal structures. Regardless of whether you opt for the closed or open approach, the surgeon will use general anesthesia to ensure that there is no pain during surgery. In the course of the procedure, your nasal bones and cartilage may be removed or added to reduce or increase the size of your nose. The tip of your nose can, in turn, be remodeled by utilizing tip grafts made of cartilage, while fat grafts or tissue fillers may be used to add volume to desired areas.

WHAT WILL TAKE PLACE IN MY INITIAL CONSULTATION?

Several points are covered in your initial consultation, the first of which is determining if you are healthy enough to undergo facial surgery – most people are, but some may have a physical condition or illness that could make the procedure riskier.

We will perform a full health history, including whether you have experienced any trauma to the nose, the types of medications you may take, allergies, illnesses, or health conditions that could be a problem. We will perform a full examination of your nose structure, your facial proportions, and take digital images of your face to create modifications to evaluate what changes will be most attractive for your unique facial structure. We answer all questions and concerns about the procedure and take the time to educate our patients, so they have realistic expectations about the surgery and recovery. Our staff will instruct you to quit smoking and avoid certain medications that may increase the risk of bleeding or complicate the recovery process.

WHEN ARE THE STITCHES REMOVED AFTER A RHINOPLASTY?

Any stitches are removed about a week after the procedure. We carefully monitor the healing progress of our patients and will schedule a post-surgery appointment soon after your rhinoplasty. We are always available if you have questions or concerns, and you will be provided with full, clear, aftercare instructions for you to follow.

DOES INSURANCE COVER RHINOPLASTY?

Unfortunately, rhinoplasty is not covered by most insurance plans. We do have financing options available and a great cash discount. Call us today for a consultation on pricing for your specific needs.
